There’s no excuse for racism.
“Why should anyone be made to feel like crap, just for being who they are?” – there’s no excuse for racism. No one gets to choose their ancestry.

Social services: lawsuits shouldn’t be required for action to happen
It shouldn’t take a lawsuit for proper procedure to be followed before “the system” acts appropriately on advice and reports from people who know they’re in a bad situation and want help to be removed from that situation.

Health: Enquiry into alcohol use in Indigenous communities
Enquiry into “The harmful use of alcohol in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities”
http://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/House/Indigenous_Affairs/Alcohol
Hopefully the work done in this will be comprehensive and provide objective, unbiased methods to deal with the physical and mental health, housing, social, cultural and economic problems which are associated with and caused by alcohol addiction and subsequent abuse, and can be applied to all people around Australia who have alcohol related problems.
If SkyNews’ information is correct (1) then it seems Coles, Woolies and the large Independents could be doing a lot more towards alcohol problems by observing the basic rule for RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol). So why aren’t they?
This page (2) says the committee will be travelling to WA and their PDF (3) shows when their public hearings will be held in Halls Creek and Broome. Set lists for the day are provided for Halls Creek (4) and Broome (5).
Information from past and scheduled hearings are available here (6)

Abbott to spend week in Indigenous community in September
I haven’t seen this on any other media page yet (ie haven’t seen it on news.com.au, smh.com.au, SkyNews, SBS News, Crickey, New Matilda, IndyMedia or Al-Jazeera).
Would one week be enough, I think two would be better but one week is better than nothing. September will come soon enough, I wonder what the disclosed outcomes will be from this visit and what affect, if anything, his experiences will have on LNP policy:
