From Monday 3 November, public transport fares will drop by 5% across Queensland.

In a two-week survey conducted last month, Translink asked Queenslanders whether they wanted to put the the carbon tax windfall into the fare cuts or invest in an extra 1,000 services.

About 22,000 people voted, with 74 per cent choosing cheaper fares.
